I recall in interviews, he was just sick of the whole situation in the Middle East, never expressed support for either side however. It went from negative, to unclear, to positive. In the 'Israel' section of the song, it's ambiguous. It's interesting because, in the 'Abortion' section of the song, he was condemning, clearly. The gist to take from this, I suppose, is that he was criticizing, not necessarily Israelis, nor the Palestinians, but at least how all those fresh conflicts arose as a result of Zionism. Peter did this a lot during Carnivore, where you're not sure if he's condemning or praising ("Male Supremacy", "Technophobia", "Race War", "USA for USA", for example), and often he did both at the same time. "Not a nation but a self-proclaimed state" is very ambiguous. Came as a lamb (Jews were persecuted in the area, historically), returned as a lion (now they are running the area ruthlessly, more or less). Area 51, in that they came as aliens reclaiming the 'promised land'.

The sectioning of the parts is very impressive too. But from a compositional point of view, it's brilliant. Probably due to the themes in it and the stylistic changes in sound.
